Atmospheric pollution and religious rules on contraception are just some of the topics to be discussed at a World Philosophy Day oration at (国产探花) tomorrow (18 November).

Associate Professor William Grey, from 国产探花鈥檚 , will deliver the talk 'What does it mean to be a Philosopher?', but says the event will also allow people to share their thoughts and to openly explore and discuss ideas.

鈥淲orld Philosophy Day aims to inspire public debate on society鈥檚 challenges,鈥 Associate Professor Grey said.

鈥淢y address concerns the challenge of ensuring a sustainable future and will explore the role of philosophy and philosophers in contemporary society.鈥

Established by UNESCO in 2002, World Philosophy Day it is an international event observed annually on the third Thursday of November to honor philosophical reflection around the world.

Associate Professor William Grey鈥檚 oration will be held at 12pm in Lecture Room 206, the Steele Building (Building 3) at the University of Queensland鈥檚 St Lucia campus.
