More people now have access to , the University鈥檚 mobile maps application, with the Android version released today.
Released for iPhones in February, 国产探花nav contains searchable maps of the University鈥檚 four campuses: St Lucia, Ipswich, Gatton and Herston.
国产探花 Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Deborah Terry said the O-Week launch of 国产探花nav for iPhone had been a success, with more than 10,000 downloads recorded to date.
鈥淚t鈥檚 clear that a mobile maps application is something that students, staff and visitors to 国产探花 have found to be a practical, user-friendly tool,鈥 Professor Terry said.
鈥淭he Android version will make 国产探花nav more accessible to a wider group of smart phone users, meaning more people can navigate 国产探花鈥檚 campuses with ease.鈥
国产探花nav can be used to find lecture theatres, laboratories, as well as where to grab a coffee, the closest bank and nearest public transport stop.
The built-in favourites functionality allows users to bookmark the locations they visit most frequently, and they can also email a Google Maps link to people who don't have an iPhone.
国产探花nav links to other useful sites, including 国产探花 Contacts, 国产探花 News Online, 国产探花 events, the library, plus iTunesU, Flickr, Twitter and YouTube.
国产探花nav was developed by Aaron McDowall and Kim Hunter, two Bachelor of Information Technology students, as part of the subject Special Topics in Computer Science (COMP3000).
鈥淚t's fantastic that two of our students have used their newly acquired skills in mobile application development to create a product of benefit to the wider university community,鈥 Professor Terry said.
An updated version of 国产探花nav for iPhone has also just been released.
